Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking an Engineering Intern in Newton, MA. You will assist lead engineers, apply standard techniques to design and update systems, and support multiple market segments with project tasks.

The role emphasizes learning, leadership, and hands-on experience across construction-related activities, including field operations, safety, and quality management. This is a full-time internship in a dynamic, multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related field from an accredited program is required.
• Or, currently enrolled and in good standing in a post-secondary education program in a field related to the work done in the department is required.
• Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
• Actively involved in campus, community or other volunteer activities or organizations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Basic knowledge and experience in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
• Self-motivated and eager learner, aptitude to grow and develop within the field.

Responsibilities

• Assist lead engineers with various project duties as assigned.
• Perform tasks applying standard engineering techniques and procedures, including basic design of engineering systems.
• Support the Construction group in safety, health, estimating, pre-construction, field operations, quality and project management.
