Job summary

Harris County is seeking a qualified professional to monitor design and construction contracts, coordinate all phases of construction projects, and conduct investigations to support long-range planning for facility repairs.

Responsibilities include producing detailed design documents, evaluating space requirements, and ensuring compliance with codes and standards across county departments. A strong technical background and effective communication are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years of space planning and preliminary design for commercial projects.
• Two years of Construction Management experience.
• Two years of AutoCAD experience.
• Troubleshoot and identify emergency repairs on HVAC systems.
• Inspect, report, and repair HVAC damage.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate occupancy and space utilization to meet codes and standards.
• Prepare renovation/addition estimates and schedules.
• Produce design/construction documents for contractor work and coordinate disciplines.
• Monitor budgets, timelines, and accuracy of design/construction contracts.
• Coordinate multiple contractors and occupant moves with timelines.
• Drive county vehicles and perform field site visits as required.
• Occasionally climb ladders to access roofs; support after-hours events as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
