Job summary

Harris County is seeking a Structural Engineer - Bridge Design and Maintenance to lead the design, inspection, maintenance, and rehabilitation of county bridges. You will coordinate with TxDOT and other agencies, manage consultants, and ensure all work meets safety standards and schedules.

The role requires a Texas P.E. license, 7+ years in bridge projects, and strong leadership with excellent communication. Hybrid field-office work may be involved with disaster-response duties as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering required.
• P.E. license in Texas required; license verification and stamped plans required.
• Minimum 7 years in bridge design, maintenance, and management with coordination experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee design, maintenance, and rehabilitation of Harris County bridges; ensure safety and code compliance.
• Coordinate with TxDOT and other agencies on bridge projects and maintenance.
• Perform bridge design, analysis, and maintenance planning; manage external consultants.
• QA/QC to ensure designs meet Harris County and TxDOT standards.
• Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources; support disaster recovery operations.
