Job summary

Texas State University seeks a Facilities Planning Design professional to lead renovation and construction projects from planning through inspection. The role involves coordinating contractors, architects, and campus resources to ensure objectives are met, while applying codes and standards.

The position requires knowledge of construction practices, strong communication, and project management skills. A BS in Construction Science & Management or related certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of construction trade standards, codes, regulations, and laws.
• Interpreting requests from clients, directing work, and negotiating personnel challenges.
• Ability to read and interpret contracts, technical manuals, blueprints, and project scope.

Responsibilities

• Manage contracts with contractors, architects, engineers, and consultants for projects.
• Plan, design, schedule, and estimate construction and renovation work.
• Develop specifications by researching vendor data and applicable codes and standards.
• Prepare project contract documents including change orders and addenda.
• Meet with requesters to interpret feasibility and prioritize projects.
• Assist in developing reports, plans, budgets, and schedules.
• Keep FPDC systems up to date and prepare plan review documents.
• Coordinate activities of contractors and campus resources to support projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
