Job summary

Turner Construction's Washington DC Main division seeks an Intern for a Reston project. You will assist in day-to-day supervised activities across construction management, safety, and coordination with subcontractors, gaining foundational knowledge.

On-site assignments include meeting coordination, document control, reports, and learning to review shop drawings, RFIs, and cost estimates. You will learn project lifecycle and safety protocols while contributing to the team.

Qualifications

• Enrolled and actively pursuing college or university accredited degree program in engineering, architecture, construction management or related field.
• Must be 18 years of age to work on a construction site.
• Desire to work in construction management and learn about the industry.
• Commitment to standard business hours and overtime as determined by assignment.
• Demonstrate interpersonal skills including student leadership or volunteer experience.
• Professional and clear verbal and written communication in English.
• Ability to read and comprehend written information.
• Proactive, curious and eager to learn and participate.
• Able to work independently, with guidance and in a team environment.
• Exceptional organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist on active construction project sites under supervision.
• Support project team with meetings, material tracking, file management, and progress reporting.
• Follow project signage and supervisor instructions.
• Provide progress reports and learn about construction management.
• Relate academic knowledge to work activities and maintain professional relationships.
• Participate in training, meetings and orientation, and comply with safety protocols.
• Assist with start-up activities, RFIs, submittals, and shop drawings.
• Assist with cost estimates for changes and coordination with subcontractors.
• Attend site visits and help with communications to architects, engineers, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Assist with quantity take-offs and learning associated details.
