Job summary

University of Nebraska seeks a financial professional to oversee the financial accounting of construction projects for Facilities Planning & Capital Programs, partnering with project managers from inception through final costing.

You will prepare and analyze complex financial information, develop statements, ensure asset and liability recording accuracy, assist with budgeting and reporting, and help improve internal controls while mentoring staff.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, economics, or related field.
  • 2 years relevant professional experience in financial analysis, accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, or a related financial function.
  • Experience analyzing financial information and preparing financial reports, budgets, forecasts, or financial analyses.
  • Experience using spreadsheets and/or financial systems to analyze and report financial information.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience, that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee financial accounting for construction projects and partner with project managers from project inception through final costing.
  • Prepare and analyze complex financial information and develop financial statements and reports; ensure accurate recording of assets, liabilities, and project activity.
  • Assist senior management with budgeting, financial reporting, and specialized analyses while ensuring GAAP compliance.
  • Evaluate internal controls and recommend process improvements; may provide leadership to accounting staff.
