Job summary

Upchurch is seeking a Project Financial Analyst to act as a strategic financial partner for Project Managers and Operations Leaders on construction projects. The role combines project accounting, forecasting, and cost management to provide visibility into budgets, costs, and profitability.

The incumbent will monitor budgets, analyze variances, manage billing, identify financial risks, and deliver actionable insights to drive project success across the Southeast and beyond.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Construction Management, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in project accounting, project finance, construction accounting, or financial analysis within the construction industry.
• Experience supporting commercial construction, MEP, or related construction operations.
• Strong understanding of job costing, project budgets, forecasting, billing, and project financial reporting.
• Ability to interpret financial information and communicate findings to non-financial stakeholders.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Project Managers to monitor and analyze the financial performance of active construction projects.
• Review project budgets, costs, committed costs, forecasts, and profitability throughout the project lifecycle.
• Assist Project Managers with financial planning, cost projections, and revenue forecasting.
• Identify potential cost overruns, budget variances, and financial risks and recommend corrective actions.
• Support project closeout activities, including final cost reviews and reconciliation.
• Prepare and maintain project financial reports, dashboards, and performance metrics.
• Analyze project financial results and communicate trends, risks, and opportunities to Operations and Finance leadership.
• Track key project indicators including gross margin, earned revenue, billing status, cash flow, and profitability.
• Assist with Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting and project reviews.
• Develop ad hoc financial analyses to support operational decision-making.
