Job summary

Superior is seeking a Construction Project Estimator to interpret drawings, read specifications, perform takeoffs and develop change order scopes. This field-based role operates from Indianapolis, Indiana, reporting to the Program Executive.

Compensation ranges from $100,000 to $140,000 per year. Responsibilities include reviewing RFIs and field directives, developing change orders with labor/material/equipment needs, and supporting pricing with data-driven analysis.

Qualifications

• Experience as an Electrical Project Estimator in construction, contracting, or related field.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, installations methods and industry standards.
• Proficiency in estimating software tools (Accubid, Trimble, Bluebeam).

Responsibilities

• Read and understand contract drawings and project specifications.
• Review RFIs, bulletins and field directives to identify scope changes.
• Perform quantity takeoffs based on updated drawings and field conditions.
• Develop scopes of work for change orders, including labor, materials, equipment and subcontractor requirements.
• Support change order pricing using labor units, historical data and field-verified productivity.
• Coordinate with field teams to validate installation methods and production rates.
• Track and document change events from identification through resolution.
• Maintain a change order log with pending, approved and disputed items.
• Prepare clear cost backup for change order submissions.
• Assist in identifying schedule impacts related to scope changes.
• Support time-and-material (T&M) tracking, including field tickets and installed quantities.

Description

Position: Project Estimator

Reports to: Program Executive

Location: Indianapolis, Indiana

Salary Range: $100,000 - $140,000

Superior is looking for a Project Estimator who will be responsible for interpreting drawings, reading specifications, change order pricing, and perform takeoffs on certain items. The Project Estimator operates primarily in the field and requires close coordination with project operations, field supervision, subcontractors, and clients to ensure all scope changes and impacts are captured, documented, and aligned with project goals. This role is based on a jobsite in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Key Responsibilities

• Read and understand contract drawings and project specifications
• Review RFIs, bulletins, and field directives to identify scope changes
• Perform quantity takeoffs based on updated drawings and field conditions
• Develop scopes of work for change orders, including labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor requirements
• Support change order pricing using labor units, historical data, and field-verified productivity

Your Expertise

• Required: You have proven experience as an Electrical Project Estimator in construction, contracting, or a related field
• Required: You have strong knowledge of electrical systems, installations methods, and industry standards
• Required: You are proficient in estimating software (e.g., Accubid, Trimble, Bluebeam, or similar)
• Bonus Points: You have earned an associate or bachelor’s degree in Construction Systems Management or a related field
