Job summary

Estes Construction in Des Moines, IA is seeking a Construction Project Engineer Intern to gain hands-on experience in our Project Engineer Training Program. You will support project managers and field staff, participate in site visits, and learn how decisions affect project outcomes.

This summer internship emphasizes safety, teamwork, and professional development. Candidates must be enrolled in a construction-related program, be able to work on-site, and authorized to work in the United States;

• Enrolled in a Construction Management or related program.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Willing to learn, ask questions, and contribute.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Construction Project Engineer Intern

• Assist project managers, pre-construction managers, superintendents, project coordinators, warehouse managers while learning how real-world decisions share the outcomes


• Participate in site visits and safety checks under supervision.


• Assist with documentation tracking and vendor coordination.


• Collaborate on a cross-functional project with interns and leaders across departments.


• Participate in company initiatives, committees, and continuing education

What We’re Looking For

• Currently enrolled in a Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or related program


• Strong communication and organizational skills


• Willing to learn, ask questions, and contribute meaningfully


• Ability to work independently while still contributing and collaborating in a team


• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office


• Ability to work on-site


• Valid Driver’s License and Satisfactory Driving Record


• Authorized to work in the United States


• Commitment from May – August (Summer 2027).
