Job summary

Ajax Building Company is seeking a detail-oriented Project Engineer to support planning and execution of complex construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. This role bridges field operations and project management, ensuring accurate documentation, coordination, and technical support throughout the lifecycle of the project.

You will work closely with Project Managers and Superintendents to manage day-to-day operations, maintain document control, and contribute to cost, schedule,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 0-3 years of construction experience; internship preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret construction documents and perform basic quantity takeoffs.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong computer skills (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, scheduling tools).

Responsibilities

• Interpret and review drawings, specifications, and submittals to support project execution.
• Identify and help resolve discrepancies or conflicts in construction documents.
• Prepare and manage project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, change orders, purchase orders, and closeout materials.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date document control logs and project records.
• Assist with preparation of as-built drawings and field design change documentation.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, and design teams to support project progress.
• Track and report on project status, including costs, schedules, and key milestones.
• Support field operations through site visits, inspections, and coordination as needed.
