Job summary

FlatironDragados in Los Angeles is seeking a Project Engineer to drive cost analysis and keep the program on budget. You will monitor resources, analyze data, and coordinate with field crews to ensure efficient project performance.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and 5+ years of construction engineering experience, with strong skills in cost control, scheduling, and financial reporting to mitigate delays and maximize value.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 5+ years construction engineering experience
  • Experience with cost accounting and resource monitoring
  • Knowledge of design build or alternative build techniques
  • Ability to delegate to engineering team
  • Advanced knowledge of contract specifications and QA practices
  • Familiarity with financial reporting and cost coding
  • Knowledge of construction scheduling and production time management

Responsibilities

  • Meet with engineering and field crews to review schedules and confirm materials and resources.
  • Review shop drawings, specifications, and project data.
  • Provide technical input for project work plans and scheduling.
  • Identify budget or schedule risks that could impact cost.
  • Evaluate daily production and budget projections to track performance.
  • Update project schedule weekly for owner and management reporting.
  • Prepare and manage a three-week work plan and communicate significant changes.
  • Initiate and manage RFIs.
  • Remit accurate project quantities using cost codes for reporting.
  • Coordinate subcontractor work methods and crews as needed.
  • Review certificates and permits and ensure safety/compliance.
