Socket.dev is seeking a Project Engineer to track and analyze cost data, ensuring projects stay on budget with strong resource monitoring and scheduling expertise. You will work with engineering and field crews to review production plans, shop drawings, and design specifications, while managing RFIs, invoicing, and safety compliance to keep projects on track.

The role emphasizes cost control, budgeting, and timely reporting, requiring a Bachelor's degree and 5+ years in construction engineering.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • 5+ years construction engineering experience.
  • Experience in cost accounting and resource monitoring techniques.
  • Specialized knowledge of design-build or other alternative build methods.
  • Ability to delegate and assign work to engineering team.
  • Advanced knowledge of contract specifications and quality assurance practices.
  • Ability to identify budget and project costs and mitigate delays.
  • Knowledge of financial reporting, quantity tracking, and cost coding.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with engineering and field crews to review production schedule and confirm materials, equipment and resources.
  • Review shop drawings, design specifications, material requirements and project data.
  • Provide technical input for project work plan and scheduling.
  • Identify risk elements that could impact budget or schedule.
  • Evaluate daily production, schedule and budget projections to track performance.
  • Update project schedule weekly for owner and management reporting.
  • Prepare and manage a three-week work plan and communicate schedule changes with mitigations.
  • Initiate and manage RFIs.
  • Remit accurate project quantities using cost coding for financial reporting.
  • Manage invoicing with accounting regarding materials, equipment and subcontractors.
  • Review certificates and permits required to perform work.
  • Review Job Hazard Analyses to ensure safety and compliance.
  • Coordinate subcontractor work methods, schedule and crews.
