Socket.dev is seeking a Field Engineer to lead on-site construction activities in Alexandria, VA, ensuring adherence to engineering standards, codes, and contract specs. You will review schedules, gather inputs, and coordinate resources daily to keep projects on track.

The role requires a related bachelor’s degree, 1+ year of construction engineering experience, and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse teams. The position offers comprehensive benefits and on-site work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field is required.
• 1+ year of construction engineering experience preferred.
• Construction engineering experience or knowledge is required.
• Beginner knowledge of construction equipment and techniques, drawings, specifications, building materials, and standards.
• Strong communication and ability to interface with others.

Responsibilities

• Meets daily with project crews to review production schedule and confirm materials, equipment, and resources are available.
• Collects, coordinates and analyzes drawings, design specifications, material requirements and project data to ensure quality and compliance.
• Provides technical input for project work plan and scheduling, identifying risk elements that could impact budget or schedule.
• Evaluates daily production, schedule and budget projections to track project performance and documents activities.
• Remits accurate project quantity input and manages cost coding with finance and accounting teams.
• Reviews and approves daily timecards and resolves inquiries with supervisors.
• Reviews project specifications for QA at start, during and after work; initiates certificates and inspections.
• Plans field layout on the project site and ensures lines are marked; initiates permits.
• Assists development of design drawings and provides technical input.
• Coordinates subcontractor work methods, schedule and crews.
