Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Construction Project Engineer in Detroit, MI, on-site, full-time. You will support project managers through the construction lifecycle, gaining hands-on experience with schedules, documentation, and coordination across teams.

This role offers direct interaction with project leaders and a clear path toward advancement. Ideal candidates hold a related degree and 1–4 years of commercial construction exposure, with strong communication and organizational skills to drive project

Qualifications

  • Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture or related field is preferred.
  • 1–4 years of experience in commercial construction; internship acceptable.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills; ability to coordinate with field teams and clients.

Responsibilities

  • Support Project Managers and Superintendents in executing construction projects.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, meeting notes, and project documentation.
  • Assist with procurement tracking and material coordination.
  • Help maintain project schedules and monitor milestones.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, consultants, and clients.
  • Track budgets and change orders; participate in site visits.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred.
  • 1-4 years of experience in commercial construction, internship experience considered.
  • Understanding of construction documents, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and project controls.
  • Ability to assist with project scheduling, document management, procurement tracking, and subcontractor coordination.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software platforms.
  • Ability to work effectively with field personnel, clients, design teams, and subcontractors.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Desire to grow within a project management career path.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to visit project sites as needed.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support Project Managers and Superintendents in the successful execution of construction projects.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, meeting notes, and project documentation.
  • Assist with procurement and material tracking activities.
  • Help maintain project schedules and monitor project milestones.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, consultants, and clients.
  • Track budgets, change orders, and project costs.
  • Participate in project meetings and site visits.
  • Ensure project documentation is accurate, organized, and up to date.
  • Assist with project closeout activities and turnover documentation.
  • Promote safety, quality, and client satisfaction throughout project execution.
