Key Project Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline required; ability to travel approximately 25%.
- 15+ years of construction project management experience supporting power generation, energy, infrastructure, or large industrial projects.
- Demonstrated experience leading complex, multi-discipline projects from pre-construction and procurement through construction, commissioning, and closeout.
- Strong experience managing project budgets, schedules, EPC contractors, subcontractors, procurement, construction teams, and project risk.
Job Summary
We are seeking a Project Director to lead the planning and execution of large-scale power generation and energy infrastructure projects. This position will oversee the full project lifecycle from pre-construction and procurement through construction, commissioning, and closeout, with responsibility for project cost, schedule, quality, safety, and overall execution. The Project Director will coordinate closely with engineering, development, project controls, construction teams, OEMs, contractors, and executive leadership to ensure successful project delivery.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Lead project planning, pre-construction, execution, commissioning, and closeout activities for complex power generation and energy infrastructure projects.
- Define project scope, execution strategies, constructability requirements, schedules, budgets, staffing plans, and major project milestones.
- Manage project CAPEX/OPEX budgets, forecasts, contingency, schedules, and overall project performance.
- Lead procurement and contracting activities, including RFP development, bid evaluations, equipment procurement, subcontractor selection, negotiations, and project buyout.
- Provide oversight of construction activities through superintendents, field teams, EPC contractors, subcontractors, and equipment vendors.
- Monitor project progress, cost, schedule, quality, safety, procurement, and construction performance and implement corrective actions as required.
- Identify and manage project risks related to permitting, engineering, procurement, supply chain, construction, commissioning, and schedule.
- Provide project reporting to senior leadership and coordinate with Development, Engineering, Finance, Legal, Project Controls, Operations, utilities, OEMs, and contractors.
Job Requirements
- Strong knowledge of power generation and/or large industrial construction project execution.
- Experience managing significant mechanical, electrical, civil, and construction scopes on complex capital projects.
- Strong knowledge of project controls, cost management, forecasting, scheduling, procurement, contracting, and risk management.
- Experience with EPC and subcontractor contracts, scope development, commercial negotiations, and change management.
- Working knowledge of Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or similar project management systems.
- Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and decision-making skills with the ability to manage multiple internal and external stakeholders.
Education / Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related discipline required; Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred.
- 15+ years of construction project management experience within power generation, energy, infrastructure, or industrial construction.
- Gas turbine, reciprocating generation, BESS, solar, and/or data center project experience preferred.
- PMP or equivalent project management certification preferred.
