Job summary

CFS in SE Portland is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead company-wide job-costing and project-based accounting within a local construction organization. Reporting to the Controller, this role partners with project managers to ensure accurate cost tracking and timely billings.

You will oversee schedule of values, progress billings, change orders, and maintain audit-ready documentation. This position offers a path toward broader accounting leadership as the function evolves.

Qualifications

• 2-4+ years of accounting experience in construction job costing or public accounting audit.
• Familiarity with progress billing, work-in-progress (WIP) schedules, and schedule of values.
• Proven ability to partner with project managers, operational staff, and external stakeholders on day-to-day project financial questions.
• Location requirement: Full-time on-site presence in the SE Portland, Oregon area.

Responsibilities

• Job-Cost Accounting: Oversee company-wide job costing and ensure accurate financial visibility across all active projects.
• Project Manager Partnership: Collaborate directly with project managers on project cost tracking, schedule of values creation, progress billing, and change order management.
• Audit Support & Compliance: Compile project-cost documentation and maintain audit schedules required for public agency and municipal project reviews.
• Process & Systems Integration: Assist in refining accounting workflows, integrating project management and finance systems, and modernizing operational controls.
• Leadership Transition: Help shape an evolving accounting function with expanding scope and leadership responsibilities over time.
