Job summary

Speedwell Construction is seeking an experienced Project Accountant to join our Accounting team. This role works closely with Project Management and preconstruction to manage the financial side of construction projects from award through closeout.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in construction, and a solid understanding of job costing, WIP accounting, and AIA billing. Strong Excel skills and familiarity with Trimble Viewpoint Vista are highly valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 2+ years of accounting experience; construction accounting preferred.
• Experience with construction projects in the $3–$10 million range preferred.
• Understanding of job costing, WIP, and percentage-of-completion revenue recognition.
• Familiarity with AIA G702/G703 billing and lien waiver processes.
• Strong Excel skills; experience with Trimble Viewpoint Vista preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit monthly owner billings using AIA G702/G703 formats.
• Monitor project costs and identify budget variances with Project Managers.
• Maintain cost-to-complete projections and support revenue recognition.
• Review subcontractor billings, lien waivers, and retainage releases.
• Coordinate subcontract agreements, purchase orders, and change orders.
• Assist with collections and ongoing accounts receivable.
• Support month-end close and WIP review.
