Job summary

Holt Construction Corp is seeking a Project Accountant to support the project team by reconciling and maintaining accurate project accounting records. You will provide timely financial information to stakeholders including clients, subcontractors, vendors, and management.

The role involves on-site collaboration with the project management team, reviewing contracts, preparing monthly requisitions, and ensuring proper billing and close-out documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
• 5+ years of experience in Project Accounting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; Viewpoint/Vista, Procore or Textura is a plus.
• Understand basic accounting principles (journal entries, general ledger).
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration on construction projects.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to maintain discretion with confidential information.
• Ability to prioritize assignments and meet deadlines.
• Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Attend project kick-off meetings and review client contracts for key financial information.
• Prepare monthly requisitions for Project Managers’ review, including costs, invoices, insurance, and taxes.
• Set up billing templates using AIA formats or client-specific formats.
• Review and reconcile monthly cost reports and invoices with project management.
• Balance cost reports for financial projections and status reports.
• Close-out procedures ensuring all costs are captured for final billing.
• Maintain current insurance, tax rates on all client/subcontractor invoices.
• Stay updated on industry standards for project accounting.
