Job summary

The Walsh Group is seeking a Project Accountant in Westfield, MA, to manage subcontract processing, invoicing, and cost reporting for transportation projects. The role requires a finance or accounting degree and construction accounting experience, with travel to jobsites as needed.

The successful candidate will support PMs in monthly billings, monitor cash flow, and ensure timely payments to subcontractors while maintaining accurate cost reporting and reconciliations across the project portfolio.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or business-related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of construction accounting experience.

Responsibilities

• Review and process subcontracts, change orders, and bonds to ensure terms are met.
• Collect and review lien waivers from subcontractors/suppliers.
• Process monthly invoices and ensure proper accruals to cost reports and phase codes.
• Ensure timely payments to subcontractors and major suppliers.
• Support monthly P&L preparation and review for accuracy.
• Perform cost transfers on project cost reports for PM staff.
• Assist in preparing monthly owner billings and analyze owner billing details.
• Monitor cash flow and communicate with project staff on A/R status.
• Travel to projects as needed to conduct regular cost report reviews.
