Job summary

The Walsh Group, Westfield, MA, is seeking a Project Accountant to manage day-to-day project accounting for 5–15 projects in the water division. This role reports to the Accounting Manager and collaborates with Project Management to ensure timely, accurate financial data and billings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in Finance, Accounting, or business-related field.
• Construction accounting experience not required.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and processes subcontracts, subcontract change orders and Performance and Payment bonds to ensure compliance with terms.
• Collects and reviews project subcontractor/supplier lien waivers.
• Collects, reviews, and processes subcontractor/supplier monthly project invoices and ensures proper accrual to cost reports and phase codes.
• Ensures proper payments to all subcontractors and major suppliers.
• Understands the Walsh monthly P&L process; submits monthly submittals and reviews P&Ls for accuracy.
• Processes cost transfers on project cost reports for Project Management staff.
• Provides monthly assistance in preparing monthly billings to project owners.
• Collects, reviews and submits monthly owner billings to the Accounting Manager for processing.
• Communicates with project staff on tracking when projects are paid.
