Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a Project Accountant to coordinate all phases of the construction job costing process for a large project and several smaller, less complex projects. You will categorize, record, analyze and monitor costs and billings, ensuring vendor compliance and managing project risk with the project manager.

The role focuses on timely and accurate accounting throughout the project life cycle, including cost tracking, accounts payable and subcontract payables, and reporting on

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience preferred.
• 3-5 years of project accounting experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and processes.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks with high attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Compiles, prepares and analyzes monthly project billings per contract requirements.
• Performs financial analysis and reconciliation of project costs versus budget.
• Processes project accounts payable and subcontracts payable.
• Manages vendor compliance, insurance, lien waivers, retention and W-9s.
• Produces and analyzes job performance and profitability through cost tracking reports.
• Assists in preparation of status reports and maintains project statuses and budget information in COINs.
• Identifies and resolves project accounting issues promptly.
