Job summary

W. G. Yates & Sons Construction Company is seeking a Project Accountant to join the finance team. This role focuses on managing job cost projections, preparing billings, and coordinating with AP and Subcontract departments to bill owners monthly.

Key duties include partnering with Project Managers to ensure receivables/payables are timely, understanding contract terms for accurate billings, and leading monthly invoicing processes with detailed backup and reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration, or accounting from an accredited institution.
• 2–5 years professional experience in accounting and financial analysis.
• 2+ years experience in the construction industry preferred.
• Project management experience is beneficial.
• Previous leadership/management of people experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Project Managers to manage receivables and payables and ensure timely accounting.
• Understand owner and subcontractor contract terms to ensure timely progress billings and payments.
• Maintain standard cost codes in the accounting system.
• Coordinate with funding agencies regarding pay application process and requirements.
• Prepare monthly invoice packages for all billable projects with backup.
