Job summary

The Weitz Company is seeking a Project Accountant to join our Cedar Rapids, IA office. You will handle billing, accounts receivable, payroll reporting, and entering equipment usage, reporting to the Accounting Supervisor and supporting the project team.

Responsibilities include cert payroll hours, balancing payroll to billings, setting up and closing projects, maintaining contract files, preparing client billings, and cost reporting with strong Excel skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum five years of experience or three years in construction accounting.
• Proficient in MS Office and advanced Excel required.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks with accuracy and discretion.

Responsibilities

• Report hours for certified payroll as needed.
• Balance payroll hours to customer billings.
• Set up, monitor, and close out projects.
• Assist project team with cost information and reporting.
• Research and collect past due receivables.
• Maintain contract files for each project.
• Prepare billings to clients.
• Identify discrepancies in payables and receivables.
• Prepare journal entries as needed.
• Bill equipment, consumables, and hours to projects.
• Other duties as assigned.
