This document outlines the responsibilities, requirements, and company background for the Project Accountant position.

Job Summary

The Project Accountant will be responsible for all accounting duties related to specific jobs or projects assigned to them. Additionally, they will assist with the general accounting duties of the company and provide administrative support at the project site.

Responsibilities

1. Prepare accurate and timely time and material invoices, utilizing various billing rate schedules and complete support documentation to ensure prompt payment.
2. Prepare lump sum/percent complete invoices, including assisting Project Management with the preparation of Schedules of Values.
3. Execute client support documentation, such as Lien Waivers, Change Orders, Purchase Orders, and Project Pay Applications, to facilitate prompt payment.
4. Review, verify, and input project cost items and budgets.
5. Verify subcontractor payment requests and report approved requests for payment.
6. Ensure all costs comply with job budgets, approvals, project reporting, and operating procedures.
7. Analyze job-to-date costs versus budgets and prepare related reports.
8. Review costs and variances with Project Managers and the Controller.
9. Discuss project accounting issues with project staff.
10. Review subcontract and contract agreements and related changes.
11. Interface with subcontractors regarding payment status, lien or insurance issues, and joint check requirements.
12. Assist with monitoring and input of miscellaneous general and administrative expenses.
13. Manage document control processes.

Requirements

• BS or BBA in Accounting highly preferred; degrees in Finance or Business Administration may be considered depending on accounting coursework.
• 3-5 years of experience in commercial construction accounting.
• Proficiency in computerized software packages, including Timberline.
• Thorough knowledge of cost accounting principles.
• Detail-oriented with excellent math skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
