National Grid is hiring a Construction Planner; this role can be based in Syracuse, Albany or Buffalo, NY.

The Role

The Construction Planner helps coordinate the preconstruction activities with stakeholders, organizes and ensures a viable construction plan with the contractor and construction supervision, closes the work out upon field completion, and provides progress updates on the workplan to stakeholders to ensure the fiscal year workplan delivery.

What You'll Do
  • Coordinate with resource planning on identifying the fiscal year workplan, workplan status, changes in the workplan, and workplan progress by contractors
  • Provide the workplan, documents, status updates, and change information to the contractor. Verify the contractors' schedules to ensure timely delivery of work
  • Facilitate meetings to support the project progression including contractor scheduling meetings, project specific meetings, process training, and conflict resolution
  • Maintain project lifecycle tracking and closeout reporting at project completion
  • Order and coordinate the delivery of materials to contractors' work sites
  • Coordinate with Construction Supervision on construction logistics and field needs in relation to contractor management
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on project and portfolio progress, project details, and concerns.
  • Continuous process improvement of planning lifecycle and interactions with other stakeholder groups
About You
  • High school diploma or equivalent and 4+ years of electrical utility construction experience required
  • Bachelors degree and 0-3+ years of utility construction experience preferred
  • Experience in project planning, portfolio planning, or project management with demonstration of successful project or program delivery preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite required
  • Knowledge of software like SAP, Primavera, PowerBI, Microsoft Projects preferred
  • Valid driver's license required

Salary

$70,000 - $82,000 a year

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills.
