Job summary

Build Group, Inc. seeks a Payroll Supervisor to lead a team of payroll professionals in Walnut Creek, CA. The role partners with external payroll providers to ensure timely, accurate payroll administration in a fast-paced, on-site environment.

You will establish SOPs, mentor staff, and drive compliance with federal, state, and local laws. The ideal candidate has 7+ years in payroll, 2+ years supervising, and strong ADP experience.

Qualifications

• Seven+ years of payroll experience with at least two years in supervision.
• Experience with certified payroll and labor job costing.
• Construction, prevailing wage and union payroll experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with multi-state payroll reporting for multiple entities.
• Strong knowledge of ADP and external payroll platforms.

Responsibilities

• Establishes SOPs for payroll processing, reporting, and compliance.
• Train, mentor, and evaluate payroll staff.
• Delegates tasks effectively while ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Leads initiatives like system migrations, new union agreements, or process revisions.
• Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws
• Conducts internal audits and reconciliations.
• Provides and analyzes regular and ad-hoc reports.
• Maintains payroll operations according to company policies and procedures; improves processes, where necessary, to build stronger efficiencies.
• Collaborates with external payroll partner(s).
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
