Job summary

Legacy Infrastructure Group in Kansas City, MO is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join its Finance Shared Services Center. You will oversee weekly multi-entity payroll processing, ensure data accuracy, and maintain compliance across Davis-Bacon and state prevailing-wage requirements.

You’ll partner with field operations and HR to deliver on-time pay in a high-volume environment, manage certified payroll reporting, and reconcile payroll data with control totals to prevent discrepancies.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of full-cycle payroll processing experience; construction, prevailing-wage, or multi-entity environment strongly preferred.
• Working knowledge of certified payroll, Davis-Bacon/prevailing wage, WH-347 reporting, and multi-state payroll tax.
• Experience with Vista by Viewpoint or a comparable construction ERP is a plus; strong Excel skills (SUMIFS, pivot tables, reconciliation workbooks). AASHTOWare and HCSS experience is a plus.
• Detail-driven with accuracy and ability to reconcile to control totals before finalizing.
• Collaborative, able to partner with field operations and HR to resolve pay/time issues quickly and professionally.

Responsibilities

• Process weekly payroll for multiple operating entities.
• Import, validate, and correct time data; verify hours, jobs, and phases against control totals and resolve exceptions before each pay run is finalized.
• Enter earnings, deductions, stipends, garnishments, benefit elections, and shift differentials with a high degree of accuracy.
• Process off-cycle, manual, and correction checks as needed.
• Prepare, review, and submit certified payroll reports for Davis-Bacon and state projects on required deadlines.
• Maintain compliance data and reporting through AASHTOWare and applicable agency/labor-compliance portals.
• Reconcile payroll registers week-over-week, validating rate, hours, deduction, and stipend changes against control totals and supporting documentation.
• Research and resolve pay discrepancies, missed hours, and coding errors in coordination with field operations and project teams.
