Boutique Recruiting in California seeks an Operational General Manager to lead construction operations across Central and Northern California. This executive role oversees a $40M–$60M annual program and directs project management, estimating, field operations, and construction teams from bidding through execution.

The GM spends roughly half time in the field and half in the office, ensuring P&L performance, customer relationships, and strong team culture while driving operational excellence.

Qualifications

• 10–15 years of progressive experience in construction, engineering, capital projects, or a closely related operational environment.
• Proven leadership experience overseeing complex construction or capital improvement projects.
• Demonstrated responsibility for budgets of at least $25M, including strong knowledge of P&L management and financial performance.
• Strong understanding of construction estimating, project execution, subcontractor coordination, trades, budgets, and schedules.
• Experience leading and developing multidisciplinary teams, including project managers and field personnel.
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining quality, deadlines, and customer expectations.

Responsibilities

• Lead the overall operational performance of construction projects throughout Central and Northern California.
• Oversee approximately $40M–$60M in annual project activity, maintaining accountability for budgets, P&L performance, and financial goals.
• Direct 6–10 concurrent projects ranging from approximately $900K to $5M, ensuring quality execution, schedule adherence, and customer satisfaction.
• Manage the complete project lifecycle, including estimating, bidding, planning, grading, drainage, subcontractor coordination, construction, and closeout.
• Lead and develop project managers, estimators, superintendents, crew leaders and other operational personnel across a team of approximately 25–30 employees.
• Review project plans, specifications, estimates, budgets and schedules to identify risks and maintain operational and financial performance.
• Build strong relationships with customers, vendors, subcontractors and internal stakeholders while representing the organization with professionalism.
• Deliver presentations and communicate project, operational and financial performance to customers and senior leadership.
• Establish clear expectations, accountability and communication across the regional team while strengthening the culture of the Fresno operation.
• Travel throughout the territory to maintain field visibility, support project teams, and address operational challenges directly.
