Concrete Strategies, Inc. in St. Louis is seeking a Director of Construction to lead project execution and drive profitability. You will work with project teams to keep work well‑planned, staffed, and moving, while aligning with area leadership on strategy and results.

The role emphasizes hands‑on leadership, strong knowledge of concrete construction, and the ability to solve problems before they escalate, with travel within the area as needed.

Qualifications

• Significant leadership experience in construction operations, concrete operations, or a similar senior role.
• Experience leading Project Directors, Project Managers, Project Engineers, and project teams.
• Strong knowledge of self-perform concrete construction, project execution, scheduling, cost control, labor planning, and safety.
• Experience managing profitability, forecasting, and margin protection.
• Understand project-management systems, reporting processes, and job-health practices.
• Spot concerns early and guide teams through complex challenges.
• Coaching, communication, planning, conflict-resolution, and problem-solving skills.
• Hold people accountable while maintaining trust and collaboration.
• Willingness to travel regularly within the assigned Area.
• Energetic leadership style with urgency, ownership, and follow‑through.

Responsibilities

• Oversee construction activities across the assigned Area.
• Plan and execute work safely, efficiently, and to project requirements.
• Provide guidance on constructability, sequencing, staffing, scheduling, cost control, and issue resolution.
• Step in with hands-on leadership for complex, high-risk projects.
• Review cost projections, cost-to-complete forecasts, labor productivity, and margin trends.
• Identify potential cost exposure and corrective actions early.
• Keep Area VP informed of risks, financial concerns, and resource needs.
• Lead, coach, and develop project-management employees at multiple levels.
• Create a culture of ownership, accountability, communication, urgency, and continuous improvement.
• Support weekly Project Health Meetings and ensure clear ownership of actions.
