Souder, Miller & Associates (SMA) is a growing engineering firm in New Mexico seeking experienced Construction Observer II-IV to oversee water and sewer projects. You will work under a Project Engineer, coordinating with contractors and clients while documenting progress and ensuring compliance with standards.

The role requires field-heavy duties with some office work, travel up to 75%, and a commitment to safety and quality on multiple projects.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; college degree preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in the construction industry.
• Minimum 2 years of construction inspection or management experience or equivalent.
• Must pass drug and alcohol test and have acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Observe construction and interact with contractors, clients, and SMA staff.
• Inspect work to ensure conformance with plans and specs.
• Maintain daily records of construction work and inspections.
• Read and interpret bid documents, drawings, and contracts.
• Attend meetings and review RFIs and submittals as needed.
