Job summary

Souder, Miller & Associates is seeking a Construction Observer I-IV to oversee water and utility construction projects. You will coordinate with project engineers and contractors, produce daily reports, and ensure work aligns with plans and specs.

Travel up to 75% is required, with competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package. This role requires a high school diploma or GED, 3+ years in construction, and ability to pass drug/alcohol screening.

Qualifications

  • Required high School Diploma or GED, but preferred a college degree.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the construction industry.
  • Minimum of 2 years of construction inspection or management experience or the equivalent thereof.
  • Must be able to pass a drug and alcohol test and have an acceptable motor vehicle record to drive a company vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Perform construction observation and interact with Contractors, Clients and SMA staff.
  • Inspect work in progress to ensure conformance with plans and specifications.
  • Maintain daily records of construction work and inspection activities, including material quantities and testing.
  • Read and understand the construction bid documents, including drawings, specifications, and contracts.
  • Attend various meetings related to construction projects.
