Job summary

ECS Group of Companies seeks an Intern Level 2 for Construction Materials Testing to support field and laboratory testing. You will help collect data, document results, and assist with project workflows while developing knowledge of materials testing standards.

The role emphasizes reliability, professionalism, and a customer-service attitude as you gain increasing independence and contribute to testing activities under supervision.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Civil Engineering degree or related field.
• One internship with ECS or another firm is required.
• One certification must be completed within 90 days; others within 270 days; Radiation Safety, Soils I, Concrete I included.

Responsibilities

• Performs field observation and testing under guidance from senior staff.
• Conducts routine testing of soils, concrete, asphalt, and other materials.
• Documents field conditions and testing results in field reports.
• Assists in preparation, organization, and maintenance of field and laboratory equipment.
• Performs basic calculations, data reduction, and data entry tasks.
• Communicates with contractors, field staff, and project teams regarding testing activities and site conditions.
• Notifies supervisors of changes in site conditions, testing needs, or potential issues.
• Assists with laboratory testing, including sample preparation, curing, and testing procedures.
• Maintains organized and clean field and laboratory work environments.
• Participates in project-related meetings and coordination activities as requested.
• Assists with reviewing laboratory results and supporting project documentation.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
