Job summary

ECS Group of Companies invites applications for a Construction Materials Testing Intern Level I. This role supports field and laboratory testing, data collection, and documentation under supervision, helping you gain foundational skills in soils, concrete, asphalt, and related workflows.

You will observe, assist, and learn alongside experienced staff, while upholding ECS values and maintaining a customer‑centric approach.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Must complete at least one certification within the 90‑day introductory period and all basic certifications within 270 days.
• Valid driver’s license if driving for ECS.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Dependable, detail‑oriented, and organized work ethic.
• Willingness to work outdoors and in field conditions; ability to lift 85 lbs multiple times daily.

Responsibilities

• Assist with field and laboratory construction materials observation and testing.
• Observe and participate in testing of soil, concrete, asphalt, and other materials.
• Document site conditions and testing results in field reports.
• Assist with equipment preparation and organization for field/lab use.
• Perform basic data entry, calculations, and data reduction tasks.
• Communicate with field staff, contractors, and project team members.
• Keep supervisors informed of changing site conditions or additional testing needs.
• Support review of laboratory results and project documentation.
• Assist with sample preparation, curing, and testing in the lab.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas.
• Notify supervisors of damaged or missing equipment.
• Attend project meetings with senior staff as requested.
• Perform other duties as assigned
