Job summary

ECS Group of Companies is seeking a CMT Intern Level I in Savannah, GA to observe and perform routine field and laboratory testing. You will assist with data collection, documentation, and testing under supervision while gaining practical experience in soils, concrete, asphalt, and other construction materials.

You will build foundational technical skills, maintain professionalism, and support project workflows while embracing ECS core values in a team-oriented environment.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an Associate, Bachelor, or Master degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• One certification must be completed within the 90-day introductory period, and all basic certifications within 270 days (Radiation Safety, Soils I, Concrete I).
• Must have a valid driver's license when driving for ECS subsidiaries.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Dependable, detail-oriented, and organized with the ability to work independently or in a team.
• Willingness to work in outdoor environments and field conditions.

Responsibilities

• Assist with construction materials observation and testing in field and lab.
• Observe and participate in testing of soil, concrete, asphalt, and other materials.
• Docu­ment site conditions and testing results in field reports.
• Prepare and organize field and laboratory equipment.
• Perform basic data entry, calculations, and data reduction.
• Communicate with field staff, contractors and project teams.
• Keep supervisors informed of changing site conditions or testing needs.
• Support laboratory testing activities, including sample prep, curing, and testing.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of field and lab areas.
• Attend project meetings with senior staff as requested.
