Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company in Charleston, SC is seeking a Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Technician to travel to construction sites, inspect contractor work, and perform field testing of soil, concrete, asphalt, and masonry materials.

You will document inspections in real time for project managers, work outdoors, and contribute to the success of critical infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior construction, inspection, or field-testing experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specs, and technical documents.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform field testing of soil, concrete, asphalt, and masonry materials.
• Inspect contractor work at construction sites and document observations.
• Prepare accurate field reports and electronic test records.
• Perform basic laboratory testing on soil and concrete samples.
• Assist in evaluating site and subgrade conditions and provide recommendations.
• Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, engineers, and project teams.
• Ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
