Construction Materials Laboratory Technician I - Portland, Oregon

Professional Service Industries, Inc. (Intertek-PSI) is a leading US based provider of construction assurance, testing and inspection in civil and commercial construction. Our broad service offering includes construction materials testing, geotechnical services, environmental engineering, industrial hygiene, and specialty testing.

What are we looking for?

The Entry Level Construction Materials Laboratory Technician I is responsible for performing a variety of Construction Materials Laboratory testing and project specific observations under general supervision and/or from detailed controlled procedures.

What you'll do:

1. Performs Construction Materials Laboratory Testing services
2. Creates reports and enters data gathered from laboratory tests and observations
3. Handles laboratory equipment, including calibrations and keeping track of maintenance
4. Physical laboratory testing of soils, concrete, and asphalt in accordance with DSA, AASHTO Caltrans and ASTM procedures
5. Audit & accreditation support and administration
6. Performs other duties as required

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:

1. High School Diploma or equivalent
2. Valid driver's license and reliable driving record
3. Must be able to work off shift and overtime as needed
4. Ability to lift, move, push and pull 30 to 50 pounds frequently; Occasionally, over 50 pounds with assistance
5. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, (hearing) and to make the discriminations in sound
6. Ability to kneel and squat occasionally
7. Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time
8. Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions, including hot and cold temperatures
9. Ability to climb occasionally, and work at various heights
10. Ability to work overnight hours and off shift

Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:

1. Construction Materials Laboratory Testing experience
2. ACI Certification
