Job summary

ECS Group of Companies is seeking a Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Intern Level I in Aberdeen, MD to observe and perform routine field and laboratory tests under supervision. You will collect data, document results, and learn testing methods while upholding ECS core values.

Qualifications include pursuing a Civil Engineering-related degree and completing foundational certifications within set timeframes. Expect an early-career, hands-on role with outdoor work and equipment handling.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
• Detail-oriented with good organization.
• Able to work independently and in a team.
• Basic problem-solving and observational skills.
• Willingness to work in outdoor environments and field conditions.
• Must be able to lift 85 pounds a number of times daily.

Responsibilities

• Assists with construction materials observation and testing in field and lab.
• Observes and participates in testing of soil, concrete, asphalt, and other materials.
• Documents site conditions and testing results in field reports.
• Assists with preparation and organization of field and lab equipment.
• Performs basic data entry, calculations, and data reduction tasks.
• Communicates with field staff, contractors, and project team members.
• Keeps supervisors informed of changing site conditions or testing needs.
• Attends project meetings with senior staff as requested.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
