Job summary

Legacy Engineering, P.C. is seeking a Construction Field Technician to join our Construction Materials Testing team in the Fredericksburg area. This entry-level, outdoor role involves testing soil and concrete on active sites and coordinating with engineers and inspectors to ensure quality construction practices.

No prior testing experience is required as we provide training and pay for industry certifications, offering a path to grow in construction, engineering, or infrastructure inspection.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Interest in construction, engineering, or field work.
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to lift up to 85 pounds and stay active throughout the workday.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Travel to construction sites in the Fredericksburg region to perform field testing of soil, concrete, and other construction materials.
• Work alongside contractors, engineers, and inspectors on active construction projects.
• Perform basic field tests using specialized equipment and industry procedures.
• Document test results and site observations using a tablet or field reports.
• Communicate with project managers and field supervisors regarding testing needs or site conditions.
• Maintain and properly use testing equipment while following safety standards.
