Job summary

Legacy Engineering, P.C., a small woman-owned civil engineering firm in Fredericksburg, VA, is seeking a Construction Field Technician to join the CMT team. This hands-on outdoor role involves traveling to sites to perform field tests on soils, concrete, and other materials, supporting engineers and inspectors on active projects, and documenting results with tablets.

No prior testing experience is required as training and industry certifications are provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Interest in construction, engineering, or field work.
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to lift up to 85 pounds and stay active through shift.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Travel to construction sites in the Fredericksburg region to perform field testing of soil, concrete, and other construction materials
• Work alongside contractors, engineers, and inspectors on active construction projects
• Perform basic field tests using specialized equipment and industry procedures
• Document test results and site observations using a tablet or field reports
• Communicate with project managers and field supervisors regarding testing needs or site conditions
• Maintain and properly use testing equipment while following safety standards
