General Responsibilities

Supervise the day-to-day activities of a team of technical field employees such as Engineering Technicians in the performance of services provided by an engineering consulting project office. Services may include construction material testing and sampling in the field or in the laboratory. Provide oversight, guidance, and instruction on assessing site conditions and addressing issues. Coordinate testing, scheduling, and training of field staff as needed.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities

• Oversee technical field staff during testing services.
• Monitor project progress and communicate with managers about resource needs and updates.
• Plan and dispatch staff based on skills, certifications, location, and project priority.
• Maintain communication with clients regarding project timelines and status.
• Ensure testing is completed per plans and specifications; provide technical guidance.
• Assist with testing services as needed.
• Provide training and development for staff.
• Participate in proposal and cost estimate preparations.
• Assist in recruitment and selection of staff.
• Understand project risks and adhere to company risk policies.
• Lead safety initiatives, ensure safety compliance, and promote a safe work environment.
• Monitor quality standards and promote continuous improvement.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline preferred.
• 4-6 years of relevant experience.
• 3+ years supervisory experience.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable record.

Preferred Certifications

• Certification or licensure in the field of expertise.
