Position Summary:

The Construction Manager is responsible for paving and concrete construction and improvement projects. The Construction Manager identifies contract-worthy projects, consults on project feasibility and site details, coordinates with construction crews, oversees project inspectors, and performs construction oversight on a project-specific basis. The incumbent may also prepare job packages and estimates, conduct job walks, and meet with bidders, contractors, and governing agencies. The Construction Manager ensures projects are completed according to regulatory guidelines, permits, and schedule.

This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location within the PG&E Service Territory.

PG&E provides a salary range based on locality and market factors. The estimated salary range is:

  • Bay Area Minimum: $102,000
  • Bay Area Maximum: $162,000
Job Responsibilities:
  • Apply advanced knowledge of professional and technical concepts to asphalt and concrete construction management.
  • Attend asphalt and concrete job scope walk-downs with PG&E personnel and contractors.
  • Conduct preliminary site visits, solicit input on constructability and contractibility.
  • Interpret and write work-specific scope documents.
  • Review RFPs to ensure contractor financial data aligns with the scope.
  • Participate in formal job walk-downs with Project Managers and Gas Operation Supervisors to review drawings, scope, schedule, and target dates.
  • Communicate effectively with contractors, organize meetings at job sites for scope review and questions.
  • Utilize workload management databases, assist employees with system usage, and review workload analysis reports.
  • Ensure contractors follow safety plans, enforce environmental and permit conditions, and safety regulations.
  • Assist in pre-construction activities, coordinate project kick-offs, and ensure compliance with permitting regulations.
  • Manage contractor billing, change orders, and field records close-out.
  • Attend weekly construction meetings, publish notes, and maintain positive relationships with construction teams.
  • Provide mentoring to junior employees as appropriate.
Qualifications:

Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience. 5 years of experience in industrial engineering or construction.

Desired: 7+ years in industrial civil engineering or heavy civil construction; knowledge of Primavera scheduling software and UNIFIER; skills in cost accounting, contract administration, project inspection, and quality control; experience with asphalt and concrete public works projects.
