Position Overview

SteerBridge is seeking a Construction Manager – Project Manager (CM-PM) to serve as a central project-management and coordination resource supporting Construction Facilities Management (CFM) work for the Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) at its Washington, DC facility. The CM-PM maintains visibility across multiple concurrent construction, renovation, assessment, and facility‑improvement efforts; helps BEP technical specialists advance their projects; and ensures that scope, schedule, cost, risks, decisions, and required documentation are consistently tracked and driven toward completion. This role connects electrical, mechanical, structural, architectural, fire protection, and other technical specialties without replacing the discipline leads or serving as the technical authority for their work — instead, the CM-PM provides the project‑management discipline that keeps multiple efforts moving and translates technical requirements into executable project actions. As BEP support expands, a strong CM-PM has the opportunity to grow into broader project prioritization, portfolio oversight, and construction program management responsibility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain current status across assigned BEP construction, renovation, facility‑improvement, assessment, and related projects.
  • Establish and maintain project trackers, action logs, milestone schedules, decision logs, risk and issue logs, and recurring status reports.
  • Track scope, schedule, budget, dependencies, outstanding actions, approvals, deliverables, and responsible parties for each assigned effort.
  • Identify projects that are stalled, at risk, awaiting decisions, or dependent on another project or technical discipline, and elevate issues requiring management attention.
  • Monitor contractor and project schedules for major milestones, sequencing, delays, dependencies, and impacts to BEP operations or other projects.
Multidisciplinary Project Coordination
  • Coordinate across electrical, mechanical, structural, architectural, fire protection, life‑safety, and other technical specialties supporting BEP projects.
  • Assist discipline leads and technical specialists with organizing requirements, resolving interfaces, tracking actions, and advancing project decisions.
  • Coordinate with BEP personnel, designers, engineers, contractors, consultants, construction personnel, and other stakeholders as required to move projects forward.
  • Participate in project meetings, technical coordination meetings, site visits, design reviews, construction progress reviews, and project status meetings.
  • Maintain follow‑through after meetings by documenting decisions, assigning actions, tracking due dates, and confirming closure.
Scope Development & Acquisition Support
  • Develop, coordinate, and review scopes of work (SOWs) and other documents that translate technical requirements into executable project packages.
  • Support development of acquisition plans, market survey/market research reports, technical memoranda, project requirements, and related procurement documentation.
  • Assist BEP technical specialists in defining project objectives, constraints, deliverables, performance requirements, and acceptance criteria.
  • Develop and review cost estimates for design efforts, construction contracts, condition assessments, building studies, renovations, and related facility projects.
  • Assist with independent estimates, project budget development, cost tracking, forecasts, and documentation supporting funding decisions.
  • Support review of contractor pricing, proposed changes, or cost impacts when requested by CFM or BEP personnel.
Design & Construction Phase Support
  • Review drawings, specifications, estimates, schedules, reports, assessments, and other project documentation for coordination issues, missing information, and potential impacts to execution.
  • Participate in site walks and existing‑condition assessments to understand project requirements and validate field conditions.
  • Support construction progress monitoring, issue tracking, quality‑related coordination, change management, and project closeout activities.
  • Communication, Reporting, & Documentation
  • Prepare clear, concise project status updates, technical summaries, meeting documentation, management briefings, and decision‑support materials.
  • Communicate effectively with BEP personnel, CFM leadership, contract personnel, contractors, and technical stakeholders regarding project status and required actions.
  • Provide timely escalation of material schedule, cost, scope, coordination, or performance concerns rather than allowing issues to remain within individual discipline silos.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in architecture, engineering, building construction, or construction management (civil, mechanical, electrical, or architectural).
  • Minimum of six years of specialized experience in commercial construction project management.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multidisciplinary construction projects spanning electrical, mechanical, structural, architectural, and fire protection/life‑safety disciplines.
  • Technical writing skills, including development of scopes of work (SOWs), acquisition plans, market survey/market research reports, and related procurement documents.
  • Cost estimating skills for design efforts, construction contracts, condition assessment studies, and related building assessments.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with BEP personnel and contract personnel.
  • Strong familiarity with building renovation and construction projects, including architectural, electrical, mechanical, and structural aspects.
  • Ability to work independently or in groups, including in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment, and to appropriately elevate issues requiring senior or technical authority.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Substantial commercial CAPEX/OPEX program experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership potential and interest in growing into broader project prioritization, portfolio oversight, acquisition and funding strategy, and construction program management responsibility.
