D.R. Horton, Inc. in Suffolk, VA is seeking a Construction Manager to oversee field construction activities, manage scheduling, safety, and quality to meet cost and timeline targets.

The successful candidate will coordinate with multiple departments, review plans, supervise site teams, ensure OSHA compliance, and travel as needed. A high school diploma and 10 years of experience are required; a bachelor's degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ten years related experience and/or training.
• Must have a vehicle and a valid driver’s license.
• High degree of construction knowledge and management skills.
• Ability to read, understand and interpret construction documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedules.
• General knowledge of municipal permitting, regulations and building codes.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, train field personnel on construction processes, safety and company policies.
• Schedule and direct tasks for all phases of construction.
• Supervise construction activities with site leadership.
• Ensure safety standards per OSHA and state regulations.
• Oversee field operations and ensure quality for occupancy readiness.
• Review architectural plans and grant final approvals.
