Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Construction Quality Control Inspector for federal projects in New Jersey. You will oversee field inspections, ensure compliance with quality standards, and maintain project records.

The role requires extensive experience reading drawings, performing take-offs, coordinating with A/E and contractors, and reporting findings to the Project Delivery Team and GSA.

Experience with OSHA safety and a background check (HSPD-12) will be required.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of specialized experience in the relevant construction work.
  • Must be able to pass an HSPD-12 Background Check.
  • Experience preparing correspondence and maintaining official construction site records.
  • Experience leading meetings to resolve problems on construction projects and briefing clients/managers.
  • Deep knowledge of construction practices and workmanship, including proper uses of materials and installation methods.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications accurately.
  • Ability to calculate construction costs and time impacts for changes.
  • Experience taking offs for materials, pricing required work, evaluating proposals and BOMs, and negotiating adjustments.
  • Ability and experience inspecting materials, workmanship, construction, and installation of systems such as fire alarm within the inspector's area of expertise.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements.

  • Ensure A/E and construction contractors follow their quality standards.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and perform daily project field inspections of all work.
  • Review equipment, materials, and workmanship.
  • Observe Contractor Quality Control activities.
  • Observe Health and Safety plan and other contractor-provided plan compliance.
  • Observe testing procedures.
  • Maintain inspection logs.
  • Prepare progress and final inspection reports for each inspection.
  • Record defects and omissions.
  • Report problems encountered during work performance.
  • Maintain daily logs on required corrections and post status reports.
  • Document qualitative and quantitative differences between contract documents and actual work in place.
  • Track and maintain an ongoing list of observed defects and omissions and issue it to the Project Delivery Team and GSA.
  • Re-issue the defects and omissions list as modifications and additions occur.
  • Provide GSA recommendations regarding corrective action before substantial completion.
  • Submit inspection recommendations to GSA for approval or rejection of work in place.

  • Ability and experience inspecting materials, workmanship, construction, and installation of various systems such as fire alarm systems within the inspector's area of expertise
  • Knowledge of construction-industry safety practices, including familiarity with OSHA safety requirements
