Responsibilities

• Participate in orientation, safety training, and jobsite preparation, including PPE and safety reporting.
• Attend project preconstruction and kick-off meetings to learn scope, schedules, and team responsibilities.
• Walk project sites and document existing conditions, access, traffic, and site features.
• Support Field Supervisors and Project Managers with delivery coordination, scheduling, and closeout activities.
• Communicate schedule changes and field conditions to the Field Supervisor and Project Manager.
• Gain familiarity with roofing, sheet metal, solar, estimating, and field supervision through rotations.
• Assist with job visits, bid preparation, material ordering, change orders, and other duties.
• Attend operations and manpower meetings and contribute to special projects.
• Maintain professional communication among project teams and trades.
• Complete and present a project to the executive team after learning.
• Perform other duties as needed.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Construction Management Intern
will gain hands‑on experience supporting Burns & Scalo Ohio projects across the full commercial roofing construction lifecycle. The program combines safety training, field assignments, project management, estimating, operations exposure, and a project. Through mentorship and hands‑on experience, the intern will build practical construction management skills while contributing to active projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Participate in orientation, safety training, and jobsite preparation, including PPE, tie‑off procedures, and safety reporting.
• Attend project preconstruction and kick‑off meetings to become familiar with project scope, logistics, schedules, and team responsibilities.
• Walk project sites and help document existing conditions, including access, traffic requirements, site storage, building conditions, and surrounding property features.
• Support Field Supervisors and Project Managers with delivery coordination, crane setup, trash removal, scheduling, staffing, purchase orders, work‑order changes, budgets, and project closeout activities.
• Communicate schedule changes, field conditions, and new project information to the appropriate Field Supervisor and Project Manager.
• Build familiarity with roofing, sheet metal, solar, estimating, warehouse operations, and field supervision through structured rotations and ride‑alongs.
• Assist with job visits, bid preparation, material ordering, change orders, and other day‑to‑day project management activities.
• Attend designated operations and manpower meetings and contribute to special projects as assigned.
• Maintain professional communication among project team members and trades encountered on the jobsite.
• Complete and present a project to the executive team based on what has been learned
• Perform other duties and assignments as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business, or a related field.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Strong accountability, attention to detail, and high work standards.

• Ability to travel to active local jobsites and participate in field‑based assignments.
