Job summary

Scalo Inc. in Pittsburgh is seeking an Accounting Intern for a 12-week program to support the Accounting department with AP/AR, payroll, and month-end close tasks in a busy office; you will gain exposure to financial reporting and internal controls.

Applicants must be a full-time accounting student, available 20–40 hours per week during standard business hours, reliable, and eager to learn. MS Office experience is expected; Timberline/Timberscan training will be provided.

• Must be enrolled as a full-time student in accredited college, working towards a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• New graduates are eligible to apply.
• Able to work 20–40 hours per week between 8 AM and 5 PM.
• Willingness to learn and provide assistance to all personnel.

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative support to The Scalo Companies.
• Handle Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and bank reconciliations.
• Assist with monthly close and end-of-month reporting.
• Learn and use Timberline and Timberscan.
• Respond to inquiries in a timely, professional manner.

POSITION SUMMARY

We are looking for an Accounting Intern responsible for completing a variety of tasks to support the daily operations of the Accounting department.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide exemplary, detail-oriented administrative support services to The Scalo Companies
• Primary emphasis on Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Bank Account Reconciliation and month end close process
• Work in a fast-paced environment with monthly and weekly deadlines
• Complete accounting functions through various computer programs and working heavily in the MS Office package.
• Ability to learn new software such as Timberline, Timberscan
• Respond to employee and customer inquiries in a timely manner and with a friendly, professional demeanor in a team environment.
• Miscellaneous administrative functions as assigned.
• Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
• Prepare special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
  

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be able to work between 20-40 hours a week between 8 AM and 5 PM
• Must be enrolled as a full-time student in an accredited college, working towards a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. New graduates are eligible to apply
