Job summary

Housing Authority of Cook County seeks a Construction Lead to oversee major construction, rehabilitation, and capital improvement projects across residential communities and facilities. You will coordinate contractors, monitor schedules and budgets, inspect sites, and ensure compliance with codes and safety requirements.

Reporting to the Director of Facilities, you will liaise with residents, consultants, and internal teams to deliver safe, on-time, within-budget projects while supporting asset

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in construction, rehabilitation, facilities maintenance, or project management.
• Experience coordinating multiple projects simultaneously.
• Experience working with contractors and subcontractors.
• Experience reading construction drawings and specifications.
• Public housing, municipal government, commercial, or multifamily residential experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate multiple construction and rehabilitation projects simultaneously.
• Develop and maintain project schedules and monitor milestones.
• Review drawings, plans, and project specifications.
• Monitor contractor performance and ensure work meets plans and schedules.
• Prepare construction scopes of work and technical specifications.
• Inspect and ensure compliance with HUD, codes, OSHA, and safety standards.
• Manage project budgets, cost estimates, and spending.
• Communicate project status with leadership and residents.
