Job summary

Turner Construction Company is seeking a construction laborer to perform general labor on projects in Austin, TX. You will assist with site cleanup, rough carpentry, fencing, decking, and various duties at the direction of foremen and superintendents.

The role requires physical stamina, ability to read basic plans, and a commitment to safety on a dynamic construction site. Valid transportation and willingness to travel or work varied hours may be needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of general construction experience or equivalent.
• Ability to read and interpret basic drawings, specs, and schedules.
• Strong safety awareness and adherence to site protocols.
• Good communication and teamwork with crews and supervision.

Responsibilities

• Review jobsite needs with foreman and superintendents to understand scopes of work.
• Assist with physical labor including clean-up, rough carpentry, site logistics, fencing, decking, and protection systems.
• Inventory and request supplies as needed for work execution.
• Ensure compliance with Turner safety codes, regulations and site security.
• Work with subcontractors and vendors; maintain teamwork and integrity on site.
• Understand work instructions and inspect tools for safe operation; wear PPE as required.
• Participate in daily Pre-Task Plans and select appropriate equipment for tasks.
• Perform demolition and assist other crafts as directed.
• Monitor project perimeter for cleanliness and security; assist end-of-day clean-up.
• Perform fire watch duties and assist with scaffolding as needed.
• Manage dumpster schedule and maintain areas.
• Act as spotter for heavy equipment; ensure equipment and work area security.
• Identify issues and communicate them to supervision for resolution.
