Job summary

Mortenson Construction seeks a Laborer Apprentice to learn the trade while assisting with preparation, handling, and supplying of materials for other crafts on active construction sites.

The role requires lifting up to 50 lbs, operating a range of hand and power tools, and supporting scaffolding, grinding, and concrete work. You will collaborate with diverse teams, perform site cleanup, and adapt to evolving duties with safety-minded procedures.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in Apprentice Aptitude Program.
• Construction experience preferred.
• Ability to work with tools and equipment, such as power and non-powered hand tools, vibrators, pumps, drills and jackhammers, forklifts, skid loaders, and power buggies.
• Strong teamwork orientation; positive attitude and professional customer service skills; detail oriented; active listening skills and effective communication, including an openness to diverse input and feedback.
• Repetitive hand, arm, leg movements.
• Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling: up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload equipment.
• Erect and dismantle scaffolding (5X7X16) and staging.
• Level ground for scaffolding.
• Tend motor and grout.
• Lift, unload, move, set, and shovel mortar and grout between wheelbarrows and buckets.
• General cleanup and clearing of debris, including sweeping, cleaning, washing, and loading or burning of debris.
• Place, push, pull, and shovel concrete.
• Vibrate concrete.
• Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels.
• All other duties as assigned.
