Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Laborer Apprentice I to learn the trade while assisting with preparation, handling, and supplying materials for other crafts. The role involves loading/unloading equipment, erecting scaffolding, leveling ground, and assisting with concrete work.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in the Apprentice Aptitude Program with construction experience and strong teamwork. The position offers a path to growth within Mortenson and a comprehensive benefits package for eligible hours.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in Apprentice Aptitude Program.
• Experience in construction preferred.
• Ability to work with tools and equipment, such as power and non-powered hand tools, vibrators, pumps, drills and jackhammers, forklifts, skid loaders, and power buggies.
• Strong teamwork orientation; positive attitude and professional customer service skills; detail oriented; active listening skills and effective communication, including an openness to diverse input and feedback.
• Repetitive hand, arm, leg movements.
• Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling: up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload equipment.
• Erect and dismantle scaffolding (5X7X16) and staging.
• Level ground for scaffolding.
• Tend motor and grout.
• Lift, unload, move, set, and shovel mortar and grout between wheelbarrows and buckets.
• General cleanup and clearing of debris, including sweeping, cleaning, washing, and loading or burning of debris.
• Place, push, pull, and shovel concrete.
• Vibrate concrete.
• Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels.
• All other duties as assigned.
